The Monastery of
AGIA TRIADA TSAGAROLON

The Monastery of Agia Triada Tsagarolon located approximately 20 kilometers’ northeast of the city of Chania, on the Akrotiri peninsula. This is an impressive monastery and in fact, is the largest of all the monasteries in Crete. The architecture has elements of Venetian and Cretan Renaissance style in strict style.
A large courtyard is located in the center and two beautiful churches included in the monastery.

According to some old documents, the Monastery of Agia Triada Tsagarolon founded in the early 17th century by the brothers Jeremiah and Laurentius Tsagarolon, after whom it is named. These brothers were two monks who came from a Venetian orthodox family. The monastery flourished in the 18th century and the monks took part in the Greek Revolution and the Cretan struggle for independence in the late 19th century, as did all the monasteries of Crete.
Particularly famous for his action was abbot Gregory Papadopetrakis, who played an important role in Cretan revolutions of 1866 and 1878.

Due to the revolutionary action of the monks, the monastery was burned and sacked by the Turks in 1821, who received most of the relics. In 1855, the monastery was renovated in 1892 and transformed into a Theological Faculty. The library is maintained until today has many rare books and manuscripts. In the monastery courtyard, you will find the churches of the Holy Apostles and the Holy Crucifixion.

Port of Seitan (Seitan Limani)

The Port Seitan is a beach located on the east side of the Cape, namely 22 km northeast of Chania town. To name means Cursed Ports and comes from the fact that the waves generated in the area is dangerous.

Once at the terminal point with your car you will see a rare beauty antithetical between wild cliff and peaceful image of the beach with blue waters.
Access to Port Seitan is a bit steep and requires a ten-minute descent.
The beach consists of sand and gravel.
